I’ve become obsessed with the Attic 24 ‘Granny Stripe’ blanket. There is something so simple but vibrant about the pattern, and of course, the colours are so bright and cheerful. It’s just perfect.
I love the crochet patterns that Lucy at Attic 24 designs, but most of all I love the way she uses colour to make simple designs really sing. The Granny Stripes blanket is made using Stylecraft Special DK which is acrylic. I usually avoid acrylic yarns as I don’t really like the feel of them, however, this pattern has got me excited! The other plus point for acrylic is that its so much more affordable than wool or cotton. So much cheaper! I’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and embark on my biggest crotchet project ever, and give in to the blanket lust. I’ve happily found that Country Crafts sell a special Attic 24 pack of Stylecraft Special DK containing all the 17 colours needed to recreate the original blanket. Each ball is just £1.45! I wish alpaca and wool were this cheap…
Over on Flickr there is a whole group devoted to the Granny Stripe too (so I know its not just me that’s fallen for this pattern). Take a look at the Flickr Attic 24 Granny Stripe Blanket Group.
